RIGHT ON RED4
Where The Left Takes A Turn For The Worse

CNN questions whether the outing of the al Qaida operative Mohammed Naeem Noor Khan was a tactical error that damaged our ability to gather more information.

Had the government not raised the terror alert (in order to continue gathering intel from Khan), CNN would be wailing about the secretive nature of the Bush White House. But since the administration raised the alert and revealed Khan's identity, CNN faults them for ruining an important source of intel.

Furthermore, I thought that the intel was irrelevant because it was so old - if Khan's info was outdated, as the liberals tried to assert, why does it matter that he's been outed?

The release of Khan's ID may have indeed exhausted him as an intel resource. But CNN needs to pick a line of attack and stick to it. It is clear that they, like Kerry, will argue the opposite side of whatever side Bush is on, regardless of whether it helps or hinders the defense of the American people.

UPDATE (via Say Anything)
According to Reuters, the administration originally kept Khan's ID secret, but The New York Times revealed his name. Apparently the government only confirmed it once the Times leaked it. But according to CNN, unnamed US officials were the ones who leaked.
